Base Metal

All ferrous materials can be zinc diffusion coated:

  • Mechanical properties are not affected

An optimal Sherardizing process does not significantly affect the special properties of the steel.

The heat treatment temperatures are low.

  • Hardened or high-strength steel

Sherardizing does not cause any stress and a critical hydrogen or liquid metal embrittlement is excluded.

  • Cast iron and forged steel

The zinc diffusion coating process provides a controlled and uniform coating layer. An uncontrolled growth of the zinc layer (Sandelin effect) is excluded.

  • Sintered metals

The gas process makes it possible to treat the surface of porous sintered metals.

  • Stainless and austenitic steel

Even high alloy steels or austinititic steel can be zinc diffusion coated. The surface becomes hard and paintable.
