Temperature resistance
The stable zinc-iron alloys are inextricably linked to the base material.
Sherardized products may be subject to high operating temperatures (< 600°C) without diffusion of zinc into the steel. This excludes liquid metal embrittlement.
On the other hand, the zinc iron alloy remains stable at temperatures down to -40°C. Products that are used at these operating temperatures and must also be protected can be treated by SHERART without any problems.
